Pius Baur

Pius Baur is a peptide development specialist within Pharmaceutical Development & Manufacturing Sciences (PDMS) at Janssen, where he leads and supports the advancement of peptide APIs across the company’s R&D portfolio. With extensive experience spanning process development, manufacturing strategy, and external partner management, he plays a key role in driving the efficient and sustainable development of peptide therapeutics from early-stage development through technology transfer.
In his role, Pius leads Janssen’s internal peptide development activities, overseeing collaborations with contract research and manufacturing organizations while supporting cross-functional CMC teams as a peptide subject matter expert. His expertise includes the development of cost-effective and environmentally sustainable peptide synthesis processes, implementation of innovative manufacturing technologies, and the evaluation of external partners and capabilities. He is also actively involved in due diligence efforts, technology transfer, and the creation of long-term peptide development strategies that support pipeline growth and manufacturing excellence.
